Why Baby Teeth Matter More Than You Think
They fall out anyway — so why care for baby teeth? Because they shape speech, nutrition and the adult smile to come.

Many parents assume baby teeth don't need much attention since they'll be replaced anyway. In reality, healthy baby teeth are essential to your child's development.
Three jobs baby teeth do
- They hold space. Each baby tooth guides the permanent tooth beneath it into the right position. Lose one too early and the others can drift, crowding the adult smile.
- They shape speech and nutrition. Children need teeth to chew a varied diet and to form sounds clearly as they learn to talk.
- They protect the adult teeth. Decay in a baby tooth can spread to the developing permanent tooth right below it.
A simple daily routine
- Brush twice daily with a rice-grain (under 3 years) or pea-size (3–6 years) amount of fluoride toothpaste.
- Limit sugary snacks and sweet drinks, especially before bed.
- Never put a baby to sleep with a bottle of milk or juice.
- Visit us every six months for a checkup and clean.
Caring for baby teeth isn't wasted effort — it's an investment in the adult smile to come.
